Frequently asked questions

What sensors does the CIL093 2.8mm M12 lens support?

The CIL093 supports 1/2.5 inch sensors resolving 5MP at 2.2μm pixel pitch, including the Sony IMX577. Its 7.6mm image circle covers the full 1/2.5 inch diagonal.

Why does the CIL093 use molded glass aspheres?

The molded glass aspheres help the CIL093 hold focus more consistently across temperature than plastic elements do. That all-glass design stays stable from -20°C to 60°C, which matters in outdoor robots and surveillance cameras.

How much distortion does the CIL093 have?

The CIL093 has -3% TV distortion across the 7.6mm image circle. That is low for a 112 degree wide-angle lens, and many competing 2.8mm M12 lenses in this class run 5-10% barrel distortion instead.

Is the CIL093 NIR corrected for day/night cameras?

Yes. The CIL093 is NIR corrected, so visible and near-infrared wavelengths stay in focus together. You should order CIL093-F2.4-M12ANIR for day-night systems that use 850nm or 940nm IR illumination.

What cameras work with the CIL093 2.8mm M12 lens?

The CIL093 works with e-con Systems S-mount boards, Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye LE, The Imaging Source M12, and Basler Dart cameras. The Commonlands CLA018 lens holder is the standard mount, and iDS uEye Rev1.2 needs the part number ending in C-NO.

Does the CIL093 ship same day from the US?

Yes. Orders placed before 12 PM PST ship the same day from our San Diego warehouse. Contact engineering@commonlands.com if you need volume pricing or MTF test data for the CIL093.

The CIL093 is a 2.8mm wide-angle M12 lens that resolves 5MP at 2.2μm pixel pitch on 1/2.5" sensors like the IMX577. The optical stack is the reason to buy it. The design uses seven glass elements plus two molded glass aspheres in an AL6061 barrel, and it avoids plastic optics entirely.

The all-glass construction keeps focus more stable across a -20°C to 60°C operating range than typical plastic-element lenses do. The CIL093 gives you 112° across the 7.6mm image circle, and distortion stays at -3% TV. That is low for a lens this wide. Many competing 2.8mm M12 lenses in this price range land around 5-10% barrel distortion, so edge detection and object tracking need less correction here. You can check sensor coverage at field of view calculator

The optics are also NIR corrected, so visible and near-infrared wavelengths stay on nearly the same focal plane. That matters in day-night cameras using IR illumination because the image stays sharp at 850nm without a mechanical refocus step. The fixed F/2.4 aperture gives the lens enough speed for indoor and outdoor use, and the full assembly weighs 9.1g.

The M12A variant ships with or without a 650nm IR cut filter. You should order CIL093-F2.4-M12A650 for daylight-only systems, and you should order CIL093-F2.4-M12ANIR for NIR and day-night applications. The lens works with e-con Systems, Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye LE, The Imaging Source, and Basler Dart cameras through the Commonlands CLA018 lens holder. iDS uEye Rev1.2 requires the part number ending in "C-NO".

All in-stock units ship the same day from San Diego when you order before 12 PM PST. Every CIL093 is 100% MTF tested at our ISO 9001:2015 facility. Contact engineering@commonlands.com if you need volume pricing or help with depth of field analysis. The calculator can help
