Frequently asked questions

What sensors does the CIL104 10mm M12 lens support?

The CIL104 covers 1/2.5 inch sensors up to 4MP. Its 7.2mm designed image circle fills that format cleanly, and the 9.0mm maximum image circle can reach slightly larger sensors if you can accept some corner shading.

How much distortion does the CIL104 have?

The CIL104 has -0.014% distortion. That number is effectively zero for barcode scanning, OCR, and dimensional measurement.

What cameras are compatible with the CIL104?

The CIL104 fits e-con Systems, Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye LE, The Imaging Source, and D3 Engineering camera modules. The Commonlands CLA018 18mm lens holder sets the correct mounting height.

What is the CIL104 field of view?

The CIL104 gives 36° field of view at the 6.6mm image circle. Your exact horizontal and vertical angles still depend on sensor size, so you should verify them at field of view calculator

Does the CIL104 ship same day from the US?

Yes. Commonlands ships in-stock lenses same day from San Diego, California for orders placed before 12 PM PST.

Are mechanical drawings and 3D models available for the CIL104?

Yes. The product page includes the mechanical drawing, and engineering@commonlands.com can provide .STP files and Trioptics MTF reports.

The CIL104 is a 10.4mm M12 lens for 1/2.5" sensors resolving 3–4MP. It gives you a 36° field of view at the 6.6mm image circle, which lands in the gap where 8mm is often too wide and 12mm is often too tight. That framing works well for barcode readers, license plate recognition, and mid-range inspection stations that need a narrower view without moving to a larger mount.

Distortion is -0.014%, which is close enough to zero that most OCR and measurement systems can skip software correction. The 7.2mm designed image circle, with a 9.0mm maximum, covers 1/2.5" sensors cleanly and can stretch a bit larger if you can tolerate some corner fall-off. Resolution stays in the 3–4MP range, so the lens matches the sensor class it is aimed at.

The barrel uses machined AL6061 aluminum, and the maximum outside diameter stays at 12mm. That size still fits tight camera enclosures where many telephoto M12 lenses start to get awkward. The lens weighs 3.5g, and you can use our field of view calculator at field of view calculator to check coverage on your sensor.

The mechanical option here is M12A. You can order CIL104-F3.8-M12A650 with a 650nm IR cut filter or CIL104-F3.8-M12ANIR without a filter. The lens fits e-con Systems, Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye LE, and The Imaging Source M12 cameras when you The Commonlands CLA018 lens holder is one compatible mounting option.

Commonlands ships in-stock parts same day from San Diego before 12 PM PST. You can request Trioptics MTF data and .STP files from engineering@commonlands.com.
