Frequently asked questions

What sensors work with the CIL227 fisheye M12 lens?

The CIL227 resolves 12MP at 1.55μm pixel pitch on sensors such as the Sony IMX377 and IMX412. Its 7.8mm designed image circle fully covers common 1/2.3 inch to 1/2 inch formats.

What is the field of view of the CIL227?

The CIL227 gives 190° diagonal field of view at the 8.0mm image circle. On a 1/2.3 inch sensor, that works out to about 140° horizontal field of view. Calculate the exact angle at field of view calculator

Is the CIL227 available with IP67 sealing?

Yes, M12B variants such as CIL227-F2.5-M12B660 and CIL227-F2.5-M12BNIR include IP67 sealing for dust and water resistance.

What is the distortion of the CIL227 fisheye lens?

The CIL227 has -11% F-Θ barrel distortion. That is normal for a fisheye at this field angle, and modern dewarp routines handle it well.

Which cameras are compatible with the CIL227?

The CIL227 is compatible with e-con Systems S-mount boards using a 10-14mm holder, Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Dragonfly S USB3, iDS uEye LE, The Imaging Source M12, and D3 Camera Modules. The Commonlands CLA024 holder works for board-level integration, and other compatible mounts are available.

Does the CIL227 fisheye lens ship from the US?

Yes, in-stock CIL227 variants ship same day from San Diego for orders placed before 12 PM PST. Contact us if you need current inventory for a specific variant.

The CIL227 is a 2.7mm fisheye M12 lens with 190° diagonal field of view at an 8.0mm image circle. It uses a fixed F/2.5 aperture, an 8G all-spherical all-glass design, an aluminum barrel, and an 8g package, so it gives full fisheye coverage without getting bulky.

The lens resolves 12MP at 1.55μm pixel pitch on sensors such as the Sony IMX377 and IMX412. That is enough for common 1/2.3" and 1/2" boards that need real resolution across a very wide field instead of just a big angle number. Distortion is -11% F-Θ, which is normal at 190°. On a 1/2.3" sensor, you get about 140° horizontal coverage while keeping the full 190° on the diagonal. The 7.8mm designed image circle covers 1/2" format cleanly.

All-spherical glass elements keep cost lower than more exotic fisheye designs and still hold up through temperature cycling. The lens comes in two mechanical versions. M12A is unsealed, and M12B is IP67-rated for exterior-facing applications. Both versions accept 660nm IRC filters or ship without a filter for NIR-sensitive configurations.

The lens mounts with the Commonlands CLA024 lens holder. It is compatible with e-con Systems boards using a 10-14mm holder, Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Dragonfly S USB3, iDS uEye LE, The Imaging Source, and D3 Camera Modules. Rev1.1 of iDS uEye LE works directly, while Rev1.2 requires part numbers ending in C-NO. You can calculate field of view on your sensor at field of view calculator

Commonlands ships this lens same day from San Diego before 12 PM PST. We 100% MTF test every unit on Trioptics equipment at our ISO 9001:2015 facility. Depth of field planning is available at depth of field calculator
