Frequently asked questions

What sensors work with the CIL343 4.4mm wide-angle M12 lens?

The CIL343 covers 1/1.8″ sensors up to 10MP at 1.85μm pixel pitch, including the ON Semiconductor AR0820 and AR0821. Its 8.8-9.7mm image circle covers those formats.

How much distortion does the CIL343 have?

The CIL343 has -5% F-Θ distortion. That is moderate for a 123° wide-angle lens, and the F-theta projection keeps angular resolution more uniform across the field.

Is the CIL343 IP67 rated for outdoor use?

Yes. The M12A variant is IP67 rated with a sealed aluminum barrel, so it works for outdoor, washdown, and dusty environments.

Which lens holders are compatible with the CIL343?

The Commonlands CLA020 is the primary compatible holder. Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye LE Rev1.1, The Imaging Source, and D3 Engineering modules also accept the CIL343, while e-con Systems boards need a 10-15mm tall mount.

Does the CIL343 ship same day from the US?

Yes. Commonlands ships in-stock M12 lenses same day from San Diego for orders placed before 12 PM PST.

What is the field of view of the CIL343 4.4mm M12 lens?

The CIL343 gives 123° field of view at the 8.8mm image circle. Use field of view calculator to calculate the exact field on your sensor.

The CIL343 gives you 123° on 1/1.8" sensors like the AR0820 and AR0821, so it works when one camera needs to cover a lot of scene. The fixed F/2.3 aperture and 8.8-9.7mm image circle support 10MP at 1.85μm pixel pitch, which is enough for wide-area monitoring without dropping straight into fisheye territory.

The distortion is -5% F-Θ. That is modest for a 123° optic, and the F-theta projection keeps angular resolution more consistent across the field than a typical rectilinear wide-angle lens. That matters in surveillance, robotics navigation, and any system where edge detail still has to do useful work. You can check your coverage at field of view calculator

The IP67-rated M12A variant uses a sealed AL6061 barrel, BBAR coating on the first surface, and an optional 650nm IR cut filter. The lens weighs 7g and has a 22.5mm total track length, so it fits drone payloads and tight enclosures without turning the mechanics into the hard part.

The CIL343 fits Commonlands CLA020 lens holders, Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye LE Rev1.1, The Imaging Source M12, and D3 Engineering camera modules. e-con Systems boards need a 10-15mm tall holder.

Orders placed before 12 PM PST ship same day from San Diego. Every CIL343 is 100% MTF tested at our facility. If you need depth of field, start with the calculator and then contact our engineers.
