Frequently asked questions

What sensors work with the CIL335 wide-angle M12 lens?

The CIL335 covers 1/2.3 inch sensors including the Sony IMX577 and IMX317, and it resolves up to 10MP across the 7.8mm image circle. Use depth of field calculator if you need help planning working distance.

What is the field of view of the CIL335 3.5mm M12 lens?

The CIL335 gives 132° diagonal field of view at the 7.8mm image circle with -3% F-Θ distortion. On a 1/2.3 inch sensor, you get about 105° horizontal coverage. Calculate the exact angle at field of view calculator

Does the CIL335 come in an IP67 variant?

No, the CIL335 does not come in an IP67 variant. If you need IP67 in a similar focal length, look at the CIL394.

What is the difference between F/1.8 and F/3.6 on the CIL335?

The F/1.8 version collects about 4x more light than the F/3.6 version. The F/3.6 version gives you more depth of field.

Which lens holders are compatible with the CIL335?

The CIL335 works with the Commonlands CLA019 lens holder, e-con Systems standard S-mount boards with a 10-13mm tall holder, Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye LE, The Imaging Source M12, and Basler Dart S-mount cameras.

Does the CIL335 3.5mm M12 lens ship from the US?

Yes, in-stock CIL335 lenses ship same day from San Diego, California for orders placed before 12 PM PST. Contact us if you need current stock for a specific variant.

The CIL335 is a 3.5mm wide-angle M12 lens with 132° diagonal field of view across a 7.8mm image circle. The F/1.8 version covers 1/2.3" sensors such as the IMX577 and IMX317 while resolving up to 10MP. A slower F/3.6 version is also available when depth of field matters more than light.

The 6-element all-glass design in an aluminum barrel holds up better through temperature swing than many plastic hybrids. Distortion is -3% F-Θ, which is acceptable for surveillance and robotics but not the best choice for barcode reading or measurement. If you need lower distortion, pick a different lens. You can check exact coverage the field of view calculator

All-glass elements and BBAR coating on the first surface help control flare, and the aluminum barrel keeps total weight to 7g. The only mechanical version is M12A, so this lens has no ingress protection. If you need IP67 in a similar focal length, consider the CIL394.

The lens is compatible with the Commonlands CLA019 lens holder, e-con Systems standard S-mount boards with a 10-13mm holder, Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye LE, The Imaging Source, and Basler Dart board cameras. It uses standard M12x0.5 threading.

Commonlands keeps this lens in stock and ships it same day from San Diego for orders placed before 12 PM PST. Trioptics MTF test data is available on request, and every CIL335 is 100% tested before it leaves our facility.
