Frequently asked questions

What sensors does the CIL232 mini fisheye support?

The CIL232 fits sensors up to 1/1.7″ format including the IMX728 and AR0823. It resolves 12MP+ at 1.85µm pixel pitch across the 8.8mm image circle.

How wide is the CIL232 field of view?

The total field of view is 200°, and 181° is measured at the 8.8mm image circle. That is wide enough for surround-view, overhead monitoring, and multi-camera stitching.

Is the CIL232 weatherproof for outdoor use?

Yes, the M12A variant is IP67-rated with a sealed metal barrel and a BBAR-coated front element. Both the CIL232-F1.9-M12A650 and CIL232-F1.9-M12ANIR are sealed.

What lens holder works with the CIL232?

The Commonlands CLA019-LCP lens holder is the recommended mount. e-con Systems boards need an 8–13mm tall holder, and Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye XLS, The Imaging Source, and Basler Dart are also mechanically compatible.

Does the CIL232 fisheye lens ship same day from the US?

Yes, Commonlands ships in-stock M12 lenses same day from San Diego, California for orders placed before 12 PM PST.

What is the distortion profile of the CIL232?

Distortion is under 10% F-Theta. The CIL232 uses F-Theta projection rather than rectilinear projection, which is standard for fisheye lenses at this field angle.

CIL232 is a 3.1mm M12 fisheye lens with a 200° field of view for sensors up to 1/1.7" format. The lens uses an F/1.9 aperture, weighs 12g, and covers an 8.8mm image circle in a miniature IP67-sealed package. The all-glass aluminum barrel is athermalized, so temperature swings do not push focus around as much.

Distortion stays under 10% F-Theta, which is controlled for a lens this wide. On the IMX728 or AR0823, the lens resolves 12MP+ at 1.85µm pixel pitch across the full 181° at the 8.8mm image circle. That much angular coverage matters in surround-view systems, downward-facing drone cameras, and 360° stitching because blind spots cause more trouble than curved lines.

Commonlands offers CIL232-F1.9-M12A650 with a 650nm IRC for daylight imaging or CIL232-F1.9-M12ANIR without the filter for NIR-sensitive work. The M12A variant is IP67-sealed and uses BBAR coating on the first lens surface.

The lens is compatible with the Commonlands CLA019-LCP lens holder. It also works with e-con Systems boards (8–13mm tall mount), Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye XLS, The Imaging Source, and Basler Dart S-mount cameras. You can use field of view calculator to model exact coverage on your sensor.

The lens ships same day from San Diego for orders before 12 PM PST. Trioptics MTF test data and mechanical drawings are available on request. You can try depth of field calculator for depth of field estimates at your target working distance.
