Frequently asked questions

What sensors work with the CIL061 6mm M12 lens?

The CIL061 covers 1/2.5 inch sensors up to 3MP at 3μm pixel pitch, including the ON Semiconductor AR0234 and Sony IMX290/IMX291. The 7.0mm image circle fully covers those formats.

How much distortion does the CIL061 have?

The CIL061 has -8% rectilinear distortion and -5% TV distortion. That level is usually acceptable for ADAS surround-view and general machine vision, but precision metrology work may still want software correction.

What is the difference between CIL061 M12A and M12B variants?

The M12A variant is the standard version with no ingress protection. The M12B variant adds IP69K sealing for automotive, agricultural, and washdown environments, and both variants use the same optics and accept optional 650nm IR cut filters.

Is the CIL061 suitable for automotive and ADAS applications?

Yes. The CIL061 is athermalized for -30°C to 75°C operation, which covers the full automotive temperature range. The all-glass construction also avoids the thermal focus shift common in plastic-element lenses used outdoors. Check working distances with our depth of field calculator at depth of field calculator

Does the CIL061 6mm M12 lens ship from the United States?

Yes. Commonlands ships all in-stock lenses same day from San Diego, California for orders placed before 12 PM PST.

Are mechanical drawings and 3D models available for the CIL061?

Yes. 3D STP models and mechanical drawings are available on the product page and by request to engineering@commonlands.com for CAD integration.

The CIL061 is a 6.0mm M12 lens for 1/2.5" sensors up to 3MP at 3μm pixel pitch. At F/1.9 it gives you 66° across a 7.0mm image circle, which is a practical match for the ON Semiconductor AR0234 and Sony IMX290/IMX291 in ADAS and embedded vision.

Distortion is -8% rectilinear and -5% TV. That level is usually fine for surround-view ADAS, general machine vision, and object detection, where some barrel distortion is acceptable or corrected in software. The 5g weight also helps when the housing is small and every millimeter counts. Check angular coverage with our field of view calculator at field of view calculator

The optics use all-glass elements in an aluminum barrel. The athermalized design holds focus across -30°C to 75°C, so the image stays stable through the temperature range that usually shifts plastic-element lenses. The BBAR coating on the first surface reduces ghosting and flare when you shoot through a window or into backlit scenes.

Two mechanical variants ship. M12A fits standard mounts, and M12B adds IP69K sealing for washdown, agricultural, and harsh outdoor environments. Both variants accept optional 650nm IR cut filters. The lens is mechanically compatible with Commonlands CLA019 lens holders, FLIR Blackfly S, Allied Vision Alvium, iDS uEye LE, The Imaging Source, and D3 Engineering camera modules.

Commonlands stocks this lens in San Diego and ships same day on orders before 12 PM PST. Every unit is Trioptics MTF tested. Contact our optical engineers for volume pricing or application support.
