Frequently asked questions

What sensors work with the CIL330 2.9mm wide-angle M12 lens?

The CIL330 covers 1/2″ sensors up to 12MP including the Sony IMX477 and IMX412. Its 8.0mm image circle covers the 1/2″ format used in Raspberry Pi HQ, drones, and machine vision cameras.

How much distortion does the CIL330 have?

The CIL330 has -3% F-Θ distortion. That projection keeps angular resolution nearly constant across the 120° field, which helps SLAM, stitching, and surveillance systems.

Is the CIL330 IP67 rated for outdoor use?

Yes. Both M12A and M12B variants are IP67 rated with sealed aluminum barrels, so they work for outdoor cameras, drones, agricultural robots, and other dusty or wet environments.

What is the difference between the CIL330 M12A and M12B variants?

The M12A has 3.6mm mechanical back focal length, and the M12B has 4.4mm MBFL. The optics and sealing stay the same, so you choose between them based on your board stack height.

Does the CIL330 ship same day from the US?

Yes. Commonlands ships in-stock CIL330 lenses same day from San Diego for orders placed before 12 PM PST.

What is the field of view of the CIL330 2.9mm M12 lens?

The CIL330 gives 120° field of view at the 6.0mm image circle. Use field of view calculator to check the exact field on your sensor format.

The CIL330 is a 2.9mm wide-angle M12 lens for 1/2" sensors up to 12MP, including the Sony IMX477 and IMX412. It gives you a 120° field of view and an 8.0mm image circle, so the coverage lands in GoPro territory without forcing you into a fisheye workflow. The fixed F/2.6 aperture also leaves enough light on the sensor for real embedded vision work.

The distortion is -3% F-Θ, which keeps angular resolution nearly constant from center to edge. That is useful for SLAM navigation, panoramic stitching, and surveillance, because the pixels per degree stay more consistent across the frame. You can calculate exact coverage at field of view calculator

Both variants ship with IP67 sealing, aluminum barrels, and BBAR coating. The M12A has 3.6mm mechanical back focal length, while the M12B has 4.4mm MBFL. Pick the version that matches your camera board stack height. If you need daylight imaging, order the 650nm IRC filter. If you need night vision or multispectral work, order the NIR version. Total weight is 7g.

The CIL330 fits Commonlands CLA024 holders, FLIR Blackfly S, Allied Vision Alvium, iDS uEye XLS, The Imaging Source M12, and Basler Dart. e-con Systems boards need an 8-13mm tall M12 holder.

Orders placed before 12 PM PST ship same day from San Diego. Every lens is 100% MTF tested. If you need help with depth of field, start with the calculator and then contact our optical engineers.
