The CIL038 supports 1/2 inch to 1/2.3 inch sensors up to 5MP at 3μm pixel pitch. Sony IMX577 and IMX477 sensors are good matches, and the 7.8mm designed image circle covers those formats with margin.
How much distortion does the CIL038 have?
The CIL038 has less than 1% TV distortion at the 7.0mm image circle. That is very low for an 85° lens, so many measurement, barcode, and inspection setups can skip software correction.
