Frequently asked questions

What sensors does the CIL333 3.5mm M12 lens support?

The CIL333 covers 1/1.8 inch sensors up to 10MP including the Sony IMX178, IMX678, and IMX334. It resolves 6-8MP at 2.2μm pixel pitch across an 8.8-9.0mm image circle.

Is the CIL333 available in an IP67 waterproof version?

Yes. The M12B variant is IP69 rated for outdoor installations, agricultural equipment, and washdown environments, while the M12A is the standard non-sealed version.

What is the field of view of the CIL333 wide-angle M12 lens?

The CIL333 gives 136° at the 8.0mm image circle on a 1/1.8 inch sensor. Use field of view calculator to calculate the exact field on your sensor format.

What cameras are mechanically compatible with the CIL333?

The CIL333 mounts on FLIR Blackfly S, Allied Vision Alvium, iDS uEye LE, The Imaging Source M12, and Basler Dart S-Mount board cameras. The Commonlands CLA024 holder works for e-con Systems boards, and other compatible mounts are available.

Does the CIL333 3.5mm M12 lens ship same day from the US?

Yes. In-stock orders placed before 12 PM PST ship same day from our San Diego warehouse.

What lens holder works with the CIL333 on e-con Systems cameras?

The Commonlands CLA024 lens holder provides the 9-13mm mount height typically needed for e-con Systems and other standard S-mount camera boards.

The CIL333 is a 3.5mm wide-angle M12 lens for 1/1.8" sensors up to 10MP, including the Sony IMX178, IMX678, and IMX334. It gives you 136° field of view at F/2.4 with an 8.0mm image circle, so you can cover a lot of scene without giving up the full sensor class. The lens uses eight all-glass elements in an aluminum barrel and weighs 67g, which tells you this is not a toy wide-angle optic.

The 8.8-9.0mm image circle oversizes the 1/1.8" format, and that extra margin helps keep the edges cleaner. The total track length is 22.7mm. Resolution holds at 6-8MP with 2.2μm pixel pitch, which is a useful compromise when you need wide coverage, decent detail, and a package short enough to fit real hardware.

The distortion is -5% F-Θ measured at 9.0mm. That is a reasonable number for a 136° lens, and it keeps angular sampling more uniform than a rectilinear design at the same width. The available mechanical variants are M12A for the standard version and M12B for IP69-rated outdoor and washdown use. Both use AL6061 barrel and cap with BBAR on lens 1 surface 1. Order the 650nm IRC filter or the NIR variant based on your spectral requirements.

The CIL333 fits FLIR Blackfly S, Allied Vision Alvium, iDS uEye LE Rev1.1 and Rev1.2, The Imaging Source M12, and Basler Dart S-Mount cameras. The Commonlands CLA024 lens holder works for e-con Systems boards that need a 9-13mm tall mount, and other compatible mounts are available. If depth of field, start with the calculator.

Orders placed before 12 PM PST ship same day from San Diego. Contact engineering@commonlands.com for volume pricing, custom coatings, or bandpass filter options like the CDB941.
