Frequently asked questions

What is the field of view of the CIL350 35mm M12 lens?

The CIL350 provides a 16-degree diagonal field of view on a 1/1.7 inch sensor with a 10mm image circle.

What sensors work with the CIL350 35mm S-mount lens?

The CIL350 resolves 8 to 10MP on 1/1.7 inch sensors, including the Sony IMX676 and similar sensors within the 10mm image circle.

How does a 35mm M12 lens compare to a 35mm C-mount lens?

A 35mm M12 S-mount lens is much smaller, lighter, and less expensive than a comparable C-mount lens. Think 14g instead of roughly 50-100g, so M12 makes sense when size, weight, and cost matter and the sensor is 1/1.7 inch or smaller.

What applications use a 35mm telephoto M12 lens?

Typical uses include automated optical inspection, drone-based crop and infrastructure monitoring, long-range barcode and character recognition, perimeter security, and embedded vision systems that need a narrow field of view to resolve small details at distance.

Does the CIL350 35mm M12 lens ship from the United States?

Yes. Commonlands ships all in-stock lenses same day from San Diego, California for orders placed before 12 PM PST.

Are .STP files and mechanical drawings available for the CIL350?

Yes. Mechanical drawings are on the product page. Contact engineering@commonlands.com for .STP 3D model files.

CIL350 is a 35mm telephoto M12 lens when you need reach without moving up to a larger mount. It gives a narrow 16-degree field of view and just 0.4% TV distortion at the 10.0mm image circle.

The lens resolves 8 to 10MP on 1/1.7" sensors such as the IMX676. At that distortion level, you can run measurement, defect detection, and OCR at 0.5 to 5 meter working distances without spending much effort on geometric correction.

Construction is all glass in an aluminum barrel. The fixed F/2.4 aperture is a sensible trade for this focal length, and the lens stays thermally stable from -20°C to 60°C. Total weight is 14g, so it still fits the size and mass budget of most board-camera systems.

The standard M12 thread drops into existing board camera hardware with no adapter. Use it for automated optical inspection, drone-based crop monitoring, and long-range object identification in robotics. Skip it if you need a wide working envelope, because this lens is happiest when the scene is far away and the target is small.

The CIL350 fits FLIR Blackfly S, Allied Vision Alvium, Basler, and iDS board cameras. Orders placed before 12 PM PST ship same day from San Diego.
