Frequently asked questions

What sensors does the CIL384 3mm M12 lens support?

The CIL384 is built for 1/2.5″ sensors including the Sony ISX031 and ON Semiconductor AR0234. It resolves 2MP at 3.45μm pixel pitch across a 6.7mm image circle.

Is the CIL384 IP69K rated for automotive exterior applications?

Yes. The CIL384 carries an IP69K rating with a sealed all-glass, all-metal barrel that is meant for high-pressure washdown, dust ingress, and automotive temperature cycling.

How much distortion does the CIL384 have at -36%?

The -36% barrel distortion is significant, but that is normal for a 3mm-class automotive wide-angle. Surround-view and ADAS systems usually correct it in software, and you should look at CIL329 or CIL327 if lower distortion matters more than coverage.

What cameras are mechanically compatible with the CIL384?

FLIR Blackfly S, Allied Vision Alvium, iDS uEye LE, The Imaging Source M12, and Basler Dart S-mount cameras all mount the CIL384 directly. works with the Commonlands CLA019 holder and other compatible mounts.

Does the CIL384 ship same day from the US?

Yes. Orders placed before 12 PM PST ship same day from the San Diego warehouse. Contact Commonlands for production pricing.

Can the CIL384 be used for surround-view ADAS camera systems?

Yes. The 116° FoV, IP69K rating, F/1.6 aperture, and ISX031 or AR0234 compatibility make the CIL384 a strong fit for surround-view, parking assist, and rear-view modules.

The CIL384 is a 3.34mm IP69K-rated M12 lens for automotive and outdoor embedded vision on 1/2.5" sensors such as the Sony ISX031 and ON Semiconductor AR0234. The fixed F/1.6 aperture pulls in enough light for low-light driving scenes and high frame rate capture without forcing you into an even larger lens body.

The lens gives 116° field of view at a 6.7mm image circle, which lands in the wide-angle range most surround-view and ADAS camera systems need. Distortion is -36%, and that is significant, but it is normal for a 3mm-class wide-angle. Parking assist and lane monitoring pipelines usually correct that in software anyway. Calculate your field of view to check coverage on your sensor, and run the DOF numbers for working-distance planning.

The construction uses seven all-glass elements in an aluminum barrel, and the assembly is IP69K rated for high-pressure washdown and temperature cycling. The lens weighs 5g. You can order it with a 650nm IR cut filter as CIL384-F1.6-M12A650 or without the filter as CIL384-F1.6-M12ANIR for NIR work.

Mechanical compatibility is broad across major board camera platforms. Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye LE, The Imaging Source, and Basler Dart all mount directly. The lens works with the Commonlands CLA019 holder (10-12mm tall mount) and other compatible M12 mounts.

Orders placed before 12 PM PST ship same day from San Diego. Volume pricing is available for automotive production quantities. Trioptics MTF test data is available on request.
