Frequently asked questions

What sensors does the CIL361 6mm M12 lens support?

The CIL361 supports 1/2.5 inch sensors up to 5MP at 2.2μm pixel pitch. It is designed for sensors like the OmniVision OX05B1S and similar 1/2.5 inch imagers.

Is the CIL361 IR corrected for day-night use?

Yes. The CIL361 is IR corrected, so visible and near-IR wavelengths stay in focus without a mechanical refocus step between day and night modes. You should order CIL361-F1.8-M12ANIR if the system needs full-spectrum response.

What cameras are mechanically compatible with the CIL361?

The CIL361 fits e-con Systems S-mount boards with a 10-13mm tall holder, and it also works with Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye LE, The Imaging Source M12, and Basler Dart cameras. The Commonlands CLA024 lens holder is the standard mounting option.

How much does the CIL361 M12 lens weigh?

The CIL361 weighs 5.1g. That low mass works well in drones, robots, and other embedded platforms that do not have much room for heavy optics.

What distortion does the CIL361 6mm lens have?

The CIL361 has -7% F-Θ distortion and -10% TV distortion at the 7.2mm image circle. That level is acceptable for security and navigation, but it is not the lens for precision measurement.

Does the CIL361 ship same day from the US?

Yes. Orders placed before 12 PM PST ship the same day from San Diego. Contact Commonlands if you need volume pricing or STP mechanical drawings.

The CIL361 is a 6.1mm IR-corrected M12 lens for 1/2.5" sensors up to 5MP with 2.2μm pixel pitch. It is a strong match for sensors like the OmniVision OX05B1S, and it keeps one optical path working from visible through near-IR. If your camera has to stay in focus in both day and night modes, this is the first lens to evaluate.

The CIL361 gives you 76° across the 7.2mm image circle. Distortion measures -7% F-Θ and -10% TV, which is normal for a wide M12 lens in this focal length range. That tradeoff is usually acceptable in security, robotics navigation, and general machine vision, but it is the wrong choice for distortion-sensitive metrology. If you need cleaner geometry, move to a longer focal length like the CIL078.

The lens uses all-glass elements in an AL6061 aluminum barrel, and the full assembly weighs 5.1g. The glass construction handles temperature swings better than plastic-heavy designs do. IR correction keeps visible light and 400nm through 900nm+ light on nearly the same focal plane, so the system does not need a refocus step between day and night operation.

The M12A variant ships without an IR cut filter as CIL361-F1.8-M12ANIR. The lens works with e-con Systems boards that use a 10-13mm tall holder, and it also fits Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye LE, The Imaging Source, and Basler Dart cameras through the Commonlands CLA024 lens holder. You can check coverage at field of view calculator.

All in-stock units ship the same day from San Diego when you order before 12 PM PST. Volume pricing is available. STP files and mechanical drawings are available through engineering@commonlands.com.
