Frequently asked questions

What sensors work with the CIL043 no-distortion 4.4mm M12 lens?

The CIL043 covers 1/2 inch and 1/2.5 inch sensors including the Sony IMX214 and Raspberry Pi IMX477. It resolves 10MP at 1.55μm pixel pitch across a 7.4mm as-design image circle, with 8.1mm maximum.

How much distortion does the CIL043 M12 lens have?

The CIL043 has -0.4% TV distortion at the 6.3mm image circle. That is close enough to zero that most machine vision systems can skip distortion correction.

Is the CIL043 available with IP67 sealing?

Yes, the CIL043 is available in IP67-sealed M12B variants. CIL043-F3.2-M12B650 and CIL043-F3.2-M12BNIR both use a sealed metal barrel.

What is the difference between the CIL043 M12A and M12B variants?

The M12B version is the main F/3.2 IP67 model, while the M12A version is F/4.5 with no IP rating. Choose M12A when depth of field matters more than light.

What cameras are compatible with the CIL043 4.4mm M12 lens?

The CIL043 mounts to Commonlands CLA018 lens holders and fits e-con Systems, Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye LE, The Imaging Source, and D3 Engineering camera modules.

Does the CIL043 ship same day from the US?

Yes, in-stock CIL043 lenses ship same day from San Diego, California for orders placed before 12 PM PST.

The CIL043 is a 4.4mm M12 lens with -0.4% TV distortion at the 6.3mm image circle. On 1/2.3 inch sensors such as the IMX214 and IMX477, it gives 72° field of view with straight lines that stay straight enough for inspection and measurement work.

The lens uses a fixed F/3.2 aperture and resolves 10MP at 1.55μm pixel pitch. That aperture is slower than some wide M12 options, but the trade is useful because you gain depth of field instead of chasing brightness you may not need. The hybrid glass and plastic design in an aluminum barrel keeps weight at 8g. You can check working distance the depth of field calculator

The M12B variant ships IP67 sealed with BBAR coating. Order CIL043-F3.2-M12B650 with 650nm IR cut for daylight, or CIL043-F3.2-M12BNIR without a filter for NIR applications. An M12A variant at F/4.5 is also available when depth of field matters more than light gathering.

The lens mounts to Commonlands CLA018 lens holders with 13mm standoff. It is compatible with e-con Systems, Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye LE, The Imaging Source, and D3 Engineering camera modules.

Commonlands ships this lens same day from San Diego for orders placed before 12 PM PST. Over 200 units of the M12B NIR variant are currently in US stock.
