Frequently asked questions
What does finite conjugate mean on the CIL121 22mm M12 lens?
The CIL121 gives its best image quality at a fixed 500mm working distance instead of at infinity. Standard M12 lenses are optimized for distant objects and lose edge sharpness when focused close, so this lens is better suited to inspection work.
Why does the CIL121 have multiple f-number variants?
The aperture choices set the depth-of-field versus light-collection trade. F/2.8 collects the most light, F/5.9 gives moderate depth of field, and F/8.0 gives maximum depth of field when lighting is available. All three use the same optical design with different fixed aperture stops.
What working distance is the CIL121 M12 lens optimized for?
The CIL121 is optimized for a 500mm working distance, but it still gives acceptable performance from infinity down to approximately 50mm. Contact Commonlands engineering if your distance falls outside that range.
Can the CIL121 22mm M12 lens be used for machine vision inspection?
Yes. The finite conjugate design, multiple f-number options, and 12MP resolution make it a good fit for PCB inspection, label verification, assembly verification, and dimensional measurement.
Does the CIL121 22mm M12 lens ship from the United States?
Yes. Commonlands ships all in-stock lenses same day from San Diego, California for orders placed before 12 PM PST.
Are .STP files and mechanical drawings available for the CIL121?
Yes. Mechanical drawings are on the product page. Contact engineering@commonlands.com for .STP 3D model files.
