Frequently asked questions

What sensors is the CIL215 IR-corrected M12 fisheye lens designed for?

The CIL215 targets 3-4MP sensors with 2.1μm pixels on 1/2.3″ format. Compatible sensors include the IMX219, AR2020, and OX05B1S RGBIR.

What does IR-corrected mean on the CIL215 190° M12 lens?

IR-corrected means the lens holds focus when switching between visible light and 850nm IR illumination. Focal shift stays under 1μm, which is critical for day/night cameras using IR LEDs.

What is the image circle and FoV of the CIL215 fisheye M12 lens?

The CIL215 has a 4.1mm image circle with a 190-degree FoV, which produces a circular fisheye on 1/2.3″ 4:3 sensors.

Is the CIL215 M12 fisheye compatible with FLIR Blackfly S cameras?

Yes. The CIL215 is mechanically compatible with FLIR Blackfly S Board cameras.

What is the TTL of the CIL215 190° IR-corrected M12 lens?

The CIL215 has a 15.4mm TTL, which fits compact doorbell camera and surveillance OEM housings.

Does the CIL215 M12 fisheye come with an IR cut filter?

No. The CIL215 ships only without an IR cut filter as CIL215-F2.0-M12ANIR. It is meant for RGBIR systems where filtering happens in the sensor or later in the pipeline.

CIL215 is a 190-degree IR-corrected fisheye M12 lens for RGBIR day/night systems that switch between visible light and 850nm IR illumination. The 1.5mm EFL, F/2.0 aperture, and 4.1mm image circle cover 1/2.3" sensors in 4:3 format with a circular fisheye at 190 degrees FoV. Resolution target is 3-4MP with 2.1μm pixels.

The critical spec is focal shift under 1μm when the system moves from visible light to 850nm. That level keeps autofocus calibration valid at night, so a camera that cannot refocus mechanically still stays sharp.

Compatible sensors include IMX219, AR2020, and OX05B1S RGBIR. If your camera switches illumination modes and cannot move focus, this lens solves that exact problem.

Construction uses 2G4P optics in an IP67-rated AL6061 aluminum barrel. The M12A variant includes BBAR coating and is the only available mechanical version. It ships only without a filter as CIL215-F2.0-M12ANIR. The 15.4mm TTL is short enough for doorbell camera housings and compact surveillance OEM designs.

Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, The Imaging Source M12 boards, and Basler Dart are mechanically compatible. iDS uEye LE Rev1.1 works directly, while Rev1.2 requires the C-NO suffix. Use e-con Systems boards with an 8-15mm tall S-mount, and use the Commonlands CLA024 holder when you need a standalone mount. Orders placed before 12 PM PST ship same day from San Diego, and STP files plus mechanical drawings are available on request.
