Frequently asked questions

What sensors does the CIL368 automotive 7mm M12 lens support?

The CIL368 supports 1/1.7 inch sensors resolving 10-12MP at 1.85μm pixel pitch, including the OX08B40, IMX678, and AR0822. Its 9.2mm image circle fully covers those formats.

How much distortion does the CIL368 have?

The CIL368 has -3.3% F-Theta distortion at the 9.2mm image circle. That is low enough for many ADAS, surround-view, and robotics navigation pipelines to run without software correction.

Is the CIL368 rated for automotive and outdoor environments?

Yes. The M12A variant carries an IP69K rating and stays stable from -40°C to +85°C, so it handles pressure washing, rain, dust, and automotive temperature cycling.

What cameras are compatible with the CIL368 M12 lens?

The CIL368 is mechanically compatible with e-con Systems using a 10-13mm holder, Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye LE, The Imaging Source, and Basler Dart S-mount cameras. The Commonlands CLA024 lens holder works for integration, and other compatible mounts are available.

Does the CIL368 ship same day from the United States?

Yes. Orders placed before 12 PM PST ship same day from our San Diego warehouse.

Can I get a 3D model or mechanical drawing for the CIL368?

Yes. The product page includes an interactive 3D model viewer, and engineering@commonlands.com can provide downloadable STP files and detailed mechanical drawings.

The CIL368 is an automotive-grade 6.8mm M12 lens for 1/1.7" sensors resolving 10-12MP at 1.85μm pixel pitch. It gives you an 80° field of view at F/1.8 across a 9.2mm image circle, so it lands in a useful middle zone for surround-view, ADAS prototyping, and outdoor robotics. It is also a direct fit for the OX08B40, IMX678, and AR0822.

The distortion is -3.3% F-Theta. That is low enough that many navigation pipelines can skip correction, which is not always true once you get this wide. One molded glass asphere helps the lens stay stable from -40°C to +85°C, and that temperature range is a hard requirement in automotive work, not a marketing line.

The lens uses all-glass, all-metal construction in an aluminum barrel. The stray-light optimization matters in HDR scenes with headlights, sun glare, or high-contrast inspection targets, because that is exactly where cheaper optics usually lose contrast first.

The M12A variant is IP69K-rated with BBAR coating on the first lens surface. Order CIL368-F1.8-M12A650 with a 650nm IR cut filter or CIL368-F1.8-M12ANIR without one. The lens is mechanically compatible with e-con Systems using a 10-13mm holder, Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye LE, The Imaging Source, and Basler Dart through a Commonlands CLA024 mount.
