The CIL583 is not in the Commonlands FOV engine yet, so its row points to the product page and its published 62.5° diagonal. The engine computes the other angles for the active area the IMX540 and IMX530 share, not the full image circle, so they run narrower than published diagonals.
Which Cameras Use the 1.2" 25MP Format
The Sony IMX540 and IMX530 are the 1.2" Pregius S sensors behind most 24.5MP industrial cameras: 5328 by 4608 pixels at 2.74µm with a global shutter. Basler uses the IMX540 in the ace 2 a2A5328 and the IMX530 in the boost boA5328-100, while The Imaging Source builds the 38UX540.
IDS ships the IMX540 in the uEye SE family and in the IP65/67 uEye FA GV-51R0FA. The 20MP IMX541 and 16MP IMX542 also fit inside the 19.4mm circle with a narrower field, which is why several Commonlands product pages list the IMX541 as a match.
For the image-circle rules behind these pairings, read the Commonlands guides to sensor size and lens compatibility and image sensor selection for machine vision.
How to Choose a Focal Length for the IMX540
Choose the focal length from the field you need at your working distance, using the horizontal angles in the table above; the range runs from wide coverage with the shortest lens to tight framing with the longest.
Stop any of these irises down for depth of field and let programmable lighting make up the exposure; the depth of field guide shows what each stop buys you.
Distortion stays at or below 0.22% on six of the seven lenses in this series, low enough for measurement work. The exception is the CIL583, which trades geometry for a brighter F/2.4 aperture at -1.7% and suits stations where light is short.
Working Distance and Minimum Focus on 1.2" 25MP Lenses
Working distance varies by product, typically 100mm to infinity for Commonlands C-mount lenses, and each product page lists the minimum focus distance. The working distance guide explains how the internal cam refocuses these designs and why the minimum object distance is a hard stop.
The 72.5mm CIL557 is a finite-conjugate design that focuses only from 500mm to 1600mm, so plan the standoff before you choose it; the others list their own minimum focus distance on the product page. Set the aperture with the depth of field calculator once the standoff is fixed.
What the 25MP Rating Means at 2.74µm
The 25MP label names the sensor class Commonlands designed and toleranced these lenses for, not a measured resolving power. A 1.2" sensor at 2.74µm asks the lens to hold contrast across a 19.3mm diagonal, so corner performance is where designs differ; ask for the MTF curve at your field height.
All seven are all-glass designs between 78g and 205g. Two 16mm options cover the same field: the CIL553 holds -0.09% distortion for measurement, while the CIL583 opens wider for stations where light is short.
